We all live busy lives. Yes, we want to dedicate as much time as possible to our studies of God’s word and to our time in prayer with Him. However, we all will find days that we are so busy and yet, we not only want but need that time with The Lord. We never want to get in a habit of neglecting time in God’s word. Here is a way to grab a few minutes and focus on a short and yet rather in-depth bible study.

Always open a study time with prayer asking God to give you His divine wisdom and understanding and to help you retain what you read in your memory and most importantly in your heart. Do not choose a verse because it is too easy to take it out of context. Select a paragraph, a passage or short story you want to focus on. Then ask yourself the following four questions about what you read. Be sure to take notes in a journal so you can come back to it later and go deeper if needed.

1. Is there a promise in what you read that you can grasp and hold onto?

2. Is there a command in the passage that you need to follow?

3. Is there a sin mentioned that you need to confess and work on yourself?

4. Did you read something new that you had never thought of before and need to ponder it in your heart. Make note of it so you can research further?

Hopefully this will help you to grab and make use of as many free moments as you can to delve into the Bible and find ways to apply it to your life. This goes a long way in helping you to continue to grow in knowledge and understanding of scripture and to deepen your relationship with The Lord.
