Do you ever choose not to share the gospel or talk about what Jesus has done for you with others due to a fear of someone being offended? We’ve all been there. We have all done this in our life, perhaps more often than we wish to admit. Have you also not felt like getting into it with certain people? God would be urging us to speak to them but we chose not to for whatever reason. Often because we were having a good time and we didn’t want to chance making that turn to a bad experience. It may take time but thankfully God can work on us in this area. So we make better choices.
We learn to listen and do what God places on our heart to say to the person or audience we’re speaking to or even to write and share here online. We have seen what God has done when we listened to Him and shared with others. We become careful to never speak out without first praying for God to give us the words. Without God giving us the words to say we will find our own words to be powerless. We learn to include scripture to support what we say. We are certain to share it with love in our heart and kindness on our face and lips. We want to reflect God’s love to who we’re speaking with. We want to attempt to deliver it as Jesus would. We want the person or group to know that we truly want them to experience what we have. Accepting and building a relationship with Jesus are the best decision(s) we have ever made. Then we must trust that God’s word and The Holy Spirit can do the rest. Scripture says God’s word is sharper than any two edged sword. Hebrews 4:12. So some people will be humbled and yes some will be offended. The truth can hurt. Some will accept and some will reject.
If someone is offended you should pray for them. You have to trust God with what happens from that point on. Ask God for guidance in your future contacts with that person. Whatever happens we must trust God to handle it, He knows all and will work things together for good. Romans 8:28 we must not take it personal if someone else is offended by what we say because this is them rejecting God’s word, not a personal rejection of us. If we feel that we shared it as God instructed and presented it in a way that reflects God’s love then we leave the situation in His hands.
It should break our heart for the ones who didn’t take His word to heart because choosing Jesus is always the right and the best choice anyone can make. We are given the job to proclaim the good news of The Lord Jesus Christ. We want to make certain that we are at least putting in our best effort to fulfill our purpose. Please don’t let fear stop you from telling someone about Jesus. we should fear one day learning the end result for a person that we had the opportunity to speak to and didn’t. Everyone we talk to will not accept what we tell them and that’s their decision to make. Our decision is whether we give the message God lays on our heart to share or if we choose not to. That decision is ours to make. Sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ to as many people as possible should be the most important task a Christian has in life. We all if we’re honest know that we can do much better.
